What should I do if I’m exposed to COVID-19?
If you’re exposed to COVID-19, call the team at Cali Quick Urgent Care and explain your symptoms.
Cali Quick Urgent Care is able to provide same-day testing.
What does COVID-19 testing involve?
Cali Quick Urgent Care offers COVID laboratory testing that provides results in as little as 25 minutes. Specifically, they use polymerase chain reaction (PCR) Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) diagnostic testing which analyzes samples of mucus or saliva for the presence of viral proteins. NAATs for SARS-CoV-2 specifically identify the RNA (ribonucleic acid) sequences that comprise the genetic material of the virus.
The NAAT procedure works by first amplifying – or making many copies of – the virus’s genetic material that is present in a person’s specimen. Amplifying or increasing the copies of nucleic acids enables NAATs to detect very small amounts of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in a specimen. NAAT testing can reliably detect small amounts of SARS-CoV-2 and are unlikely to return a false-negative result of SARS-CoV-2. Rapid Antigen COVID testing is also available.
What if my test comes back positive?
If the results of your COVID-19 test come back positive, stay home except to get medical care. Most people with COVID-19 experience mild symptoms that resolve with at-home treatments like rest, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking over-the-counter medication.
If you live with roommates or family members, try to avoid direct contact. Stay in a specific room and let any friends or loved ones know they may have been exposed.
If your symptoms worsen and you experience shortness of breath or a high fever, visit Cali Quick Urgent Care immediately. The doctors at Cali Quick Urgent Care stay up to date on the most effective treatment options for COVID-19.
